Apple announced iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on 9 September 2026. This page uses Apple Newsroom and Apple technical specification pages only. The live address stays /blog/iphone-18-esim.
Does iPhone 18 Pro support eSIM?
Yes. Apple's official specifications confirm that iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max support eSIM.
The US technical specifications page lists Dual eSIM: two active eSIMs at the same time, and storage for eight or more eSIMs. That is the official US wording from Apple, not a rumour.
Apple Newsroom also states that eSIM is an industry standard supported by over 500 carriers worldwide, including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.
iPhone 18 Pro eSIM-only countries
Apple Newsroom lists the markets where iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max ship as eSIM-only. Those models do not accept a physical SIM.
| Market | SIM configuration |
|---|---|
| Bahrain | eSIM-only |
| Canada | eSIM-only |
| Guam | eSIM-only |
| Japan | eSIM-only |
| Kuwait | eSIM-only |
| Mexico | eSIM-only |
| Oman | eSIM-only |
| Qatar | eSIM-only |
| Saudi Arabia | eSIM-only |
| United Arab Emirates (UAE) | eSIM-only |
| United States | eSIM-only |
| U.S. Virgin Islands | eSIM-only |
This country list comes from Apple's 9 September 2026 Newsroom announcement for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Does iPhone 18 Pro have a physical SIM slot?
It depends on the market where the phone is sold.
In the eSIM-only markets above, Apple says the models use advanced eSIM technology and are not compatible with physical SIM cards. Apple used the space that a physical SIM tray would occupy for a larger battery. Newsroom states that this gives two additional hours of video playback on those eSIM-only models.
Turkey is not on that eSIM-only list. Apple's Turkey technical specifications page lists Dual SIM (nano-SIM and eSIM) plus Dual eSIM. A Turkey-sold iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max still has a physical nano-SIM slot.
Confirm the box and the Apple specs page for your country before you assume a SIM tray is present.

iPhone 18 Pro Dual eSIM
Yes. Dual eSIM is part of the official specification for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
On the US technical specifications page, Apple states two active eSIMs at once, with storage for eight or more eSIMs. You can keep a home line and add a travel eSIM without swapping a plastic card.
On the Turkey specifications page, Apple lists Dual eSIM support together with nano-SIM + eSIM. That means a Turkey model can run a physical nano-SIM with an eSIM, or two eSIMs.
Using RoameSIM with iPhone 18 Pro
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max can use a RoameSIM travel eSIM. Buy the plan before you travel. Guest checkout sends the QR by email. Install on Wi-Fi, keep the travel line off until you land, then set that line for mobile data and enable data roaming on it.

The phone must be unlocked. Do not delete your home eSIM or nano-SIM. Dual eSIM lets you keep the home number for calls and SMS while RoameSIM handles data.
