iPhone 18 Pro eSIM: Does It Have a SIM Card Slot?

Does iPhone 18 Pro have a SIM card slot? See the Apple eSIM-only country list, Turkey nano-SIM + eSIM models, and how to install a RoameSIM travel eSIM.

Updated: 12 September 2026 RoameSIM Editorial Team eSIM Guides

TL;DR: iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max support eSIM and Dual eSIM. Twelve markets ship without a physical SIM tray. Turkey models keep nano-SIM + eSIM. For travel data, install a RoameSIM plan before you fly.

Does iPhone 18 Pro support eSIM?

Yes. Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max specifications include eSIM. The specs page lists Dual eSIM: two active eSIMs at the same time, with storage for eight or more eSIMs.

Apple Newsroom also states that eSIM is an industry standard supported by over 500 carriers worldwide, including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.

That matters for travel. You can keep a home line for calls and SMS, then add a prepaid travel eSIM for data abroad without removing a plastic card on eSIM-only phones.

Does iPhone 18 Pro have a SIM card slot?

It depends on the country or region where the phone is sold, not only on the model name.

  • eSIM-only markets: no physical SIM tray. Activation and travel plans use eSIM only.
  • Other markets (including Turkey, UK, and much of Europe): nano-SIM tray plus eSIM support.

Always check the box label and Apple’s specs for your purchase country. Importing a US eSIM-only phone into Turkey, for example, means you will not get a local nano-SIM tray even if you live in Turkey.

How to check the phone in your hand

  1. Look along the side of the frame. No tray and no pinhole means an eSIM-only model.
  2. Open Settings → General → About and look for the SIM or eSIM entries.
  3. Match your model number against Apple’s guide: find out which type of SIM your iPhone uses.

Do this before you buy a local SIM abroad. A traveller with an eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro cannot use a physical tourist SIM at all, so a travel eSIM is the only prepaid option.

Where is iPhone 18 Pro eSIM-only?

Apple’s 9 September 2026 Newsroom announcement names the markets where iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max ship as eSIM-only:

MarketSIM configuration
BahraineSIM-only
CanadaeSIM-only
GuameSIM-only
JapaneSIM-only
KuwaiteSIM-only
MexicoeSIM-only
OmaneSIM-only
QatareSIM-only
Saudi ArabiaeSIM-only
United Arab EmirateseSIM-only
United StateseSIM-only
U.S. Virgin IslandseSIM-only

Outside this list, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max continue to ship with a physical nano-SIM tray alongside eSIM.

Apple gives a hardware reason for the eSIM-only build. Those models reuse the space the physical SIM used to occupy for a larger battery, which Apple says adds two hours of video playback. MacRumors notes the country list is unchanged from iPhone 17 Pro.

Turkey model: nano-SIM + eSIM

Turkey is not on Apple’s eSIM-only list above. iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max sold for Turkey keep a physical nano-SIM tray and support eSIM.

In practice that means a Turkey-bought phone can use:

  • one nano-SIM + one eSIM, or
  • Dual eSIM (two active eSIM lines)

If you buy your phone in Turkey and travel abroad, you can leave your Turkish nano-SIM (or home eSIM) for calls and SMS, then add a RoameSIM eSIM for destination data.

Turkey was in Apple’s first pre-order group, with pre-orders from 12 September 2026 and availability from 18 September 2026. Confirm the SIM configuration on Apple’s Turkey technical specifications page before you order, especially if you buy from a grey-market seller.
